Complain to the Consumer Protection Directorate of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MOIC). Attach your proof: the receipt, warranty or agreement.
Ways to complain:
- the consumer protection hotline 17007003
- email consumer_protection@moic.gov.bh
- Tawasul, the national complaints system, at bahrain.bh/tawasul
- in person at the Consumer Protection Center
Things MOIC says are worth reporting include a seller who:
- refuses to return or replace an item within 15 days of purchase when it has a manufacturing defect or does not match the agreed specification
- prints "goods sold are not refundable or replaced" on invoices or signs
- adds a fee for paying by credit card
- charges a different price at the till from the one on the product
- forces you to buy something extra with what you came for
- gives only verbal guarantees instead of a written one
MOIC asks for the receipt, warranty or agreement with every complaint, so keep the invoice.
Steps
- Keep the receipt, warranty or agreement.
- Ask the shop to refund or replace the item within 15 days if it is faulty.
- If it refuses, complain to MOIC Consumer Protection by phone, email, Tawasul or in person, attaching your proof.
