No. All drone use in Bahrain is currently banned, whatever the purpose.
What the official notices say
- On 28 March 2026, the Ministry of Interior announced a strict ban on using drones for any purpose, starting that day and lasting until further notice.
- The Ministry said any drone flown against the ban will be intercepted and destroyed, and legal action will be taken against the person flying it.
- The National Portal says that from 28 March 2026, all drone activities and related approvals are suspended until further notice. This includes drone flights and the processing of permit and approval applications.
Normally
Under Bahrain's drone rules, every drone flight needs a permit from the Civil Aviation Affairs at the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications. Even after the ban is lifted, you will still need a permit before flying.
What people miss
- The ban covers hobby flights and photography too, not just commercial filming.
- Check the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications announcements page before you plan any aerial shoot.
