Leases are registered with the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Waqf through the Lease Contract Services on bahrain.bh. Either the landlord or the tenant can register a residential or commercial lease there.
Cost: 5 BD for a residential lease and 10 BD for a commercial lease.
How: sign in with a Standard eKey, enter the contract details and pay online. The same service lets you look up and, where allowed, edit a registered contract, and anyone can check that a registered contract is valid.
Register it before you deal with utilities: EWA asks a tenant for the lease and its registration receipt before it will open an electricity and water account in their name.
Steps
- Get a Standard eKey if you do not have one.
- Open Lease Contract Services on bahrain.bh and choose Lease Contract Registration.
- Enter the lease details and pay 5 BD (residential) or 10 BD (commercial).
- Keep the registration receipt for EWA and other services.
