The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) runs a free online check that shows an expat worker's permit status and how long it is valid.
Where to check
- On the LMRA website, open the page "View Expatriate Employee Data (Commercial Sector)".
- Enter your ID card (CPR) number and passport number, and pick your country of origin from the list.
- The same check is in the MyGov app if you sign in with the Advanced eKey (2.0).
Thinking of moving to a labour registration centre? A separate LMRA service, "Verification of Eligibility to Join Labour Registration Centres", tells you straight away whether you can apply for a registered worker permit. You can search with your ID card number, work permit number, application number or passport number. Questions go to Expat.Services@lmra.gov.bh.
The catch: the first check covers permits in the commercial sector. If you hold a domestic worker permit, or something looks wrong (an expiry date you did not expect, or a permit showing a company you no longer work for), ask the LMRA directly rather than relying only on the online result.
Steps
- Open the LMRA page for viewing expatriate employee data, or the MyGov app.
- Enter your ID card number and passport number.
- Choose your country of origin and search.
- Read the permit status and expiry date shown.
