The Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) only looks at a complaint after you have given the bank a chance to fix it.
- Complain to the bank first, by email or official letter to its complaints team (the bank's website gives the address). The bank has to confirm it received your complaint within 5 business days and answer in writing within 4 weeks.
- If you are not happy with the answer, take it to the CBB with the bank's written reply attached. You can use the complaint form on the CBB website, the national Tawasul app, or hand it in at the CBB building.
The same route covers other financial institutions and the capital markets. The CBB Consumer Protection Office is on 17547789 and complaint@cbb.gov.bh.
The CBB checks whether rules were broken. It says you are unlikely to get anything back if the bank kept to the contract terms and told you what it should have, so read the terms of a product before you sign.
Steps
- Email or write to your bank's complaints team with the details.
- Wait for the acknowledgement (5 business days) and the written answer (4 weeks).
- If unhappy, send the complaint and the bank's written reply to the CBB by its online form, Tawasul or in person.
