Is the public beach at Bilaj Al Jazayer open at the moment?

Not as of the developer's last announcement. Edamah, the company developing Bilaj Al Jazayer, said the public beach would close from 13 April 2026 while the first phase of an upgrade is built. It gave no reopening date and asks people to follow @bilajaljazayer on social media for updates.

The works cover more than 80,000 sqm of shoreline. Edamah says the reopened beach will have shaded walkways, sports and outdoor fitness areas, cycling and jogging tracks, a playground, food and retail outlets, parking with valet, and green areas.

Where to go meanwhile: Sama Bay in Galali, Muharraq, is another public beach. Bahrain's tourism authority lists it as open every day from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM, with padel, water sports, beachside cafés, walking paths and lifeguards. Some activities there need booking ahead; its listed number is 13677111.

The hotels and beach clubs inside the Bilaj Al Jazayer development (such as the surf park and beach club) are separate businesses with their own rules and prices; the closure notice is about the public beach.
