If a CR is not renewed, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MOIC) marks it deactivated for non-renewal. That status does not close the business; you still have to choose to close it formally or revive it. Both are done online on Sijilat.
To close it
- On Sijilat, request a change from "deactivated for not renewing" to "deleted with payment" (this service is for commercial companies).
- Attach a decision from the director or board. If someone outside the company applies, add a notarised power of attorney (a professional office or a staff member already on the record can use a non-notarised one).
- Fee: 20 BD. Processing: 3 working days.
To bring back a cancelled CR (within 3 years)
- A CR or branch can be restored up to 3 years after it was cancelled.
- Fees: 50 BD renewal plus 50 BD revival, plus a fine for each month: BD 10 a month in the first year, BD 20 a month in the second and BD 30 a month in the third.
- Sijilat restores it automatically once you apply and pay; MOIC lists 1 working day.
The catch: the monthly fine grows the longer you wait. After three years the restore option is gone, so decide early whether you want to keep the name and record.
Steps
- Log in to Sijilat and open the record.
- To close: request the move to 'Deleted with Payment', attach the board decision (and POA if needed) and pay 20 BD.
- To revive within 3 years: apply to restore, then pay the renewal, revival and monthly fines.
