What do pregnancy check-ups cost at government health centres for expats in Bahrain?

The Ministry of Health publishes a price list for mother and child health services. It applies to non-Bahraini patients who are not government employees (or their families) and are not enrolled in the primary health care scheme.

Listed prices (BD)

Where: mother and child health clinics at government health centres. Other price lists on the same MOH page cover lab tests, radiology and vaccines.

The catch: this list covers check-ups, not the birth itself, and lab tests or scans beyond the basic ultrasound are charged separately from their own lists. If you have health insurance, check what it covers before you start.

Steps

  1. Check whether you are covered (government employee family or primary care scheme) or pay the listed fees.
  2. Book an antenatal visit at your health centre.
  3. Ask which tests you will need and check their prices on the MOH lists.
