Excavated Dilmun-era temple ruins near Barbar village, built over a freshwater spring.
One of the oldest religious sites in the Gulf, still standing over its original spring.
Barbar Temple consists of three temple layers built successively between roughly 3000–1750 BCE by the Dilmun civilization, constructed over a natural freshwater spring believed sacred to the god Enki. The excavated foundations and altar remain visible on site.
